Small Business Administration- www.sba.gov A very nice use of our tax dollars. This is one of the easier-to-navigate-and-understand websites provided by the federal government (at least as compared to the IRS website). Has many written and visual materials. Take advantage of this.
Clark Howard— www.clarkhoward.com Love this guy!!!!! Radio’s (and sometimes TV’s) Clark Howard is a fantastic consumer advocate, and he often does pieces that concern small business. He stays on top of trends in business and different industries. Podcasts are available for no charge.
Start-up Nation— www.startupnation.com This website has a slew of discussion forums, business bloggers, and free tools. Check it out.
Your Local Chamber of Commerce– In many communities, there are resources available for businesses, and depending on where you are and where you’re planning to set up shop, there might be “incentives” available to you to build in a community.
Your State– Many states have programs that offer incentives to locate businesses w/in the state. Check your state’s website to see what they have for you.
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for the content on any of the listed websites. IMO, they’re good stuff, but you have to determine that for yourself and your own situation.
